Jerry E. Amerine 76 of Muscatine passed away Monday May 26, 2014 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday May 29, at the Ralph J. Wittich Riley Freers Funeral Home. Chaplain Vicki Petersen of Lutheran Homes will officiate. Casket bearers will be Justin Amerine Jeremy Amerine, Alex Amerine, Cameron Ferguson, Nicole Amerine and Mary Amerine. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton. A time of food and fellowship will follow the committal service in the private room at the Mississippi Brewing Company.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday May 28, 2014 at the Funeral Home.

Jerry was born on June 19, 1937 in Wilton, the son of Harry E. and Violet E. Fowler Amerine . He married Phyllis A. Witmer on February 23, 1963 in Wilton.

He worked as a clerk at Scott's Outdoors and in many positions.

He enjoyed reading, music, crossword puzzles, and camped for many years. He also treasured watching his grandkids play sports. He was a longtime member of the Elks Lodge, and played the organ at church in Wilton.

Those left to honor her memory include his wife, Phyllis Amerine of Muscatine, one son, Gregory T. Amerine and wife Judi of Sunrise Beach Mo. a daughter, Kimberly A. Ferguson and husband Tim of Keokuk; seven grandchildren, Justin and wife Tonya, Brandon, Jeremy, Alex, Mary, Nicole and Cameron and wife Amy and three brothers, Larry Amerine and wife Kathlene of Davenport, Keith Amerine ad wife Kati of LeClaire, and Steven Amerine and wife Doris of Las Vegas.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
