Third Herd Remembers Marvin

Marvin, you were 18 when you joined third platoon of Bravo Company, 2/28, 1st Inf. Div. You were the youngest member of our platoon. Most of us were old men of 20 or so years old. When I rotated home on June 12, 1968, you had been in the outfit for just about nine months and were an old man of 19. When we survivors of the "Third Herd" get together (in person or via email), we remember you and talk about you. You were a good soldier, and served your country without complaint. Never once did anyone hear you complain or say any words of anger. You always had a smile and were a good soldier.
