Born February 19, 1938 in Macomb, New York, he was a son of the late Alvin Washburn and Bertha Dane Washburn. He retired as an electrical engineer. Sylvester was a member of Mountain View United Methodist Church. He was a loving father and great teacher to his two sons.
Sylvester is survived by two sons: Gerald S. (Michaela) Washburn, Ronald S. (Jana) Washburn; grandchildren: Christian and Andrew Washburn; siblings: June LaVack, Joyce Stammer, Eleanor Solar, Bettie Rook, Nilah Sias, Sarah (Ford) Reynolds, Richard (Elizabeth) Washburn, Anna Washburn, Mary (Harold, Jr.) Bresett, Leona Jones, Charles (Donna) Washburn, Ada (Don Jr.) Bayne, and Arthur Washburn.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Mountain View United Methodist Church, 1077 Viewpoint Lane, Forest, VA 24551 on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.
