He was born Dec. 22, 1907, in Oswego, the son of John and Fredricka (Fees) Hoch. On Jan. 19, 1952, he married Cassie Austin in Crystal Lake.
He was employed in the maintenance department of Woodstock Die Casting from 1952 to 1971. He was a member of the Woodstock Fire Department for 25 years, and was a former captain of the department. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Woodstock and sang in the choir, and was a life member of Woodstock Moose Lodge 1329.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth (Donna) Jensen of Woodstock and Jerome (Amy) Hoch of Marengo; a daughter, Barbara (David) Boerner of Enumclaw, Wash.; two brothers, Elmer (Amanda) Hoch and John (Helen) Hoch, both of Woodstock; eight grandchildren, Richard and Dan Boerner, Judy Pichelheimer, Jodi Lewis, Janice Hoch and Caje, Thomas and Michael Jensen; three great-grandchildren, Cody and Jaymee Lewis and Matthew Pichelheimer; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Thomas Jensen; eight brothers and sisters; and his first wife, Margaret Hoch.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 24, in the Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home in Woodstock. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 25, in Grace Lutheran Church in Woodstock, the Rev. Norbert W. Meyer officiating.
Burial will be in McHenry County Memorial Park in Woodstock.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Hospice of Northeastern Illinois or the Woodstock Food Pantry.
