First on the 1880 census Honea Path, Anderson Co: E. Carter Devall age 32, M. E. (Lizzie hughes) age 26, M.J. dau age 4,*R. L (Robert L.) age 4 months, and Rufus Hughes listed as Brother in law age 13.

In 1900 his family listed in Grove Township but Robert does not live at home. Listed in his fathers household are the following: Carter Devall born 5/1846 age 54 married 25 years, Lizzie M wife age 40, she had 7 children, 5 survive. Margaret J (dau) age 22, Clarence age 14, William P. (Wm T) age 13, Clide (Clyde) age 7 and Texas Johnson, domestic help.

In 1900 Oaklawn Township Greenville Co SC I found Bud Devault who was a servant in the Massey household. I was told by one of the Aunts that he was often called "Bud". I am not certain whether this was him or not.

Robert married Lou Anne Young Devall. She is buried in the Washington Cemetery in Greenville Co. *Source is Harice Devall's obituary.

In 1910 Greenville Co Mangham Mill Village he was in the home of his parents: Edward Devall age 62, Elizabeth wife age 53, Clyde age 17, Margaret (Jeanes) age 33 or 38 a widow, 3 children 0 survive, *Robert, son listed as single. Harice is listed as a son but he is the son of Robert and is age 1 5/12.

He married Etta Williamson. She is buried at Woodlawn, Greenville Co.

His registration card shows that his full name is Robert Lee Devall but gives the birthdate January 19, 1878, lived in Anderson Co SC and was married to Etta Williamson Devall.

His death certificate 004813 incorrectly shows his last name as Dovall. He lived at the Anderson, Centerville County Home at the time of his death. It was said that he had Brights Disease. Burial is listed as Belton, but is most likely unmarked.
