Helen Lola Newman Lay, 87, of Rison, Arkansas, died Sunday, June 25, 2000, at JRMC, Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

She was born at Warren on September 17, 1912, and was the daughter of the late Aaron Newman and Mary Harrington Newman

She was homemaker and the widow of Ninuel Blevins Lay.

She attended Shepherd Hill Baptist Church.

Mrs. Lay was preceded in death by two sisters, eight brothers, a grandson and two granddaughters a great grandson.

Survivors include five sons; Earnest Lay of Stroud, Oklahoma, Troy Lay of Gatesville, Texas, Coy Lay of Leitchfield, Kentucky, Ninuel Lay of Tenaha, Texas, and Wayne Lay of Glendale, Arkansas, five daughters, Loy Mae Walsh of Crescent City, California, Floy Ann Petit of Yucca Valley, California, Lose Clark of Banning, California, Mary Rocca of Rison, Arkansas, and Colleen Holleman of Woodlawn, Cleveland County, Arkansas, a sister Minnie Holley, of Rye, Cleveland County, Arkansas, 65 grandchidlren; 76 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, June 27, 2000, at the chapel of Buie Funeral Home in Rison, conducted by Hurley Wayne Ashcraft,

Burial was in Pee Dee Cemetery at Clinton, Van Duren County, Arkansas, by Buie Funeral Home of Rison.
