Walter J. Duda, 72, a resident of 315 Beech St., died Saturday at his home following a long illness. Mr. Duda was a life resident of Fulton. Prior to his retirement several years ago, he was employed with Nestle Co. in Fulton. Mr. Duda was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army. He was a member and four term president of the Polish Home. Mr. Duda was a member of St. Michael’s Club, the Henry C. Proppe Post No. 19, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Fulton and the Quattrini-Dehm Post 5885 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Oswego. Mr. Duda had played semi-professional baseball in the Canadian-American League prior to World War II. He also managed the Fulton Fusileers baseball team and established the Connie Mack Youth League in Fulton in the late 1950’s. He is survived by his wife, Rose (Dombrowska) Duda; two daughters, Dawn Alsworth and Donna Kelly, both of Fulton; two sons, James Duda of Hickory N.C. and Lt. Col. Gerald Duda, stationed with the Marine Corps in Honolulu, Hawaii; two sisters, Ann Libera of Fulton and Mary Berry of Maine.
