Former Idaho First Lady Dies Saturday

Mrs. Nellie Johnson Davis, 79, wife of Idaho’s ex-governor D.W. Davis, died Saturday in a local hospital after a short illness.
Mrs. Davis was born in Sterling, Ill., Sept 29, 1877, and resided at 605 North Twelfth street. She resided in Boise until 1921 and then moved to Washington, D.C. with her husband who became assistant secretary of Interior. The resided there until 1932 while her husband held various positions with the government, returning then to Boise. Mrs. Davis was a 50-year member of the Kappa Gamma sorority and the First Methodist church.
Survivors in addition to her husband of Boise, include one daughter, Mrs. Daniel Stubbs, Alliance, Neb.; two sons, Capt. D.W. Davis, Sr., San Mateo, Calif., and Donald J. Davis, Boise and eight grandchildren.
The Schreiber-McCann-Gibson chapel will announce services.
