Services for Mrs. Katie D. Monroe, 94 of Gilbert, LA will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Gilbert, with Rev. Gordon Donahoe officiating. Interment will follow in South Central Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Winnsboro.

Mrs. Monroe loved her family, was a member of the Gilbert Garden Club, loved being with her grandchildren, and loved to farm. She was a graduate of LA Tech., was a Home Economics teacher at Gilbert High School for 4 years, worked at Northeast LA Power Coop for 37 years, member of Eastern Star, Ladies Oriental Shrine, Delta Kapa Gama, and First Baptist Church of Gilbert.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, James C. Monroe, Jr., parents; George and Mary Mathis Donahoe, siblings; Annie Mae Jones, Charlie Donahoe, Ernest Donahoe, James Donahoe, and George Donahoe, and granddaughter, Megan Leigh Monroe.

Survivors include: son, James R. Monroe and wife Connie of Baton Rouge, grandchildren; James Christopher Monroe and wife Lindsey, and Darryl Ryan Monroe and wife Natalie, great-grandchildren; Ryan Ellis Monroe, Raegan Virginia Monroe, Parker James Monroe, and Pierson Jon Monroe.

Pallbearers are: Chris Monroe, Darryl Monroe, Ryan Monroe, Randy Sewell, John Jones, and John Earl Carroll.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. till time of service on Saturday, March 2nd at First Baptist Church in Gilbert.
