CHATHAM - Annie Mozelle Bowen, age 94, of 4801 Mt. Cross Rd., Danville, Va., passed away Sunday, June 2, 2013 at her residence.
She was born on November 24, 1918, in Franklin County, Va., the daughter of the late Joe Henry Adkins and the late Lelia Oakes Adkins. She was married to the late William Sanford Bowen.
She was a member of Green Bay Christian Church.
Mrs. Bowen is survived by three daughters, Sandra Bowen Adkins and her husband Riley, Linda Bowen Shelton and her husband Haley, and Joan Bowen Patterson and her husband Danny; three grandchildren, Mark Shelton, Kimberly Looney, and Tina Vassar; six great-grandchildren, Amber Adkins, Stacy Murphy, Suzanne Shelton, Lauren Vassar, Brooke Vassar, and Hayley Looney; four great-great-grandchildren, Blake, Kaitlyn, and Dustin Adkins, and Trinity Perkins; and two sisters, Pauline Reynolds, and Polly Adkins.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Joe Nelson Bowen; one grandson, Timothy Paul Adkins; five brothers, Dewey, Eddie, Moncie, Harold, and Clyde; and four sisters, Cathleen, Erma, Jasmer, and Florence.
The family would like to thank the care-givers Teresa Edmunds and Hospice nurses Madlyn and Sharon.
Graveside services will be conducted at the Bowen Family Cemetery on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Mr. Henry Lee Bowen officiating.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Mt. Cross Fire Department, 4812 Mt. Cross Rd. Danville, VA 24540.
