A. Vernon Vickery, age 87, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014.

He was born in Hart County, Ga. and lived there the first 32 years of his life. He attended Clemson University where he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering and began his career at Lockheed in Marietta, Ga. In 1958, Vernon moved to the Maryville area and worked for several years at Robert Shaw in Knoxville and retired from TVA Knoxville. He was a member of Broadway Baptist Church for over 50 years.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Lillian Vickery and his son, Darryl Vickery.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Kathryn Lowe Vickery; daughter, Sharon Vickery Luna; grandsons, Austin and Cameron Luna; sister, Patricia Vickery Alford and two nieces.

Funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2014, in the Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Tony Collins officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Grandview Cemetery for the interment.
