Longtime Lodi business owner, dies at age 95
Kathryn Ann "Kate" Dow, 95, of Lodi died Feb. 19 at a local convalescent hospital. She was born in Egypt, Wash.
She had been a Lodi resident for 64 years. Mrs. Dow and her late husband owned and operated Dow's Nursery for many years before selling the operation to their son, Carroll. She continued on as manager and consultant until the operation ceased in 1992.
For more than 50 years, Mrs. Dow was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Woodbridge Chapter No. 118. She was also a member of Soroptomist International of Lodi. She was past president of Lodi Business and Professional Women in 1962 and 1963, PEO - an educational program for youth - and was named Lodi's Woman of the Year in 1971.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh A. Dow; and a grandson, Bradley Dow.
Mrs. Dow is survived by two sons; two daughters; a sister, Genevieve Duncan of Oregon; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
