Lester "Horkey" Hawthorne , 74, of Dann Road died Tuesday at Lee Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Hawthorne was a life resident of Fulton . He was a custodian with Alltel.
Mr. Hawthorne was a member of the Fulton Polish Home. A Marine Corps veteran of World War II, Mr. Hawthorne was a life member of the Marine Corps League and Fulton Post, VFW. He was a member of the Polish League of American Veterans.
Surviving are his wife, the former Helen Litwak; four stepsons, Chester, Michael and Joseph Kempston, all of Fulton , and James Kempston of Hannibal; two stepdaughters, Barbara Truax of Fulton and Gerry Wells of Oswego; two sisters, Myrtle Collins of Oswego and Lillian McCoy of Utica; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sugar Funeral Home, the Rev. Dora Schneider officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
