Ann Alexander, 88, of Burden, Kansas, passed away Wednesday morning, May 7, 2014 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

Born September 22, 1925 in Deerfield, Kansas, she was the daughter of Nathan and Audrey (Ore) Brewster. She was a lifetime resident of Burden and a member of the First Baptist Church of Burden. She managed the Burden Newspaper for many years and was an avid KU Jayhawk Basketball fan. Ann was a wonderful neighbor, friend and Christian sister.

Ann was united in marriage to Donald Dean Alexander on July 2, 1943 in Miami, Florida. He preceded her in death on March 7, 2004.

Her family includes: Her daughters: Rita Hays of Robertsdale, AL; Brenda Alexander of Burden; Cookie Treffer and husband, Dennis of Derby; Her son: Rick Alexander and wife, Pam of Meade; Her brother: Ron Mickley and wife, Pauletta of Springfield, MO; Her grandchildren: Dawn Edwards, Rick Hays, Shani Rhodes, Doug Treffer and wife, Hilary, Sonya Keasey and husband, Joel, Becky Alexander, Nick Alexander, Chris Alexander and wife, Nikki, Her 12 great grandchildren; and Three nieces.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ann was preceded in death by her stepfather, J.D. Mickley, and a brother, Bobby Brewster.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church of Burden. Interment will follow at the Burden Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield on Friday evening From 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 6 to 8 that evening.

A memorial has been established in Ann's name for the First Baptist Church of Burden. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
