OXFORD JCT....Funeral services were held Oct. 5 for Edward J. Burda, 68, a resident of the Rock Island, Texas community since 1951. Mr. Burda died at the family home Oct. 2. He suffered a heart attack two years ago and had been in failing health.
He was born on a farm near Oxford Jct. Nov 5, 1894. He was married to Frances Kula in 1919 and to this union three children were born.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War I and after that returned to Oxford Jct. where he entered the banking business. He became affiliated with the Rock Island school district when the family moved to Rock Island in 1951.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Edward of Los Angeles, Calif. and Robert of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Olga Lundquist of Rock Island; five grandchildren, one great grandchild and a brother, Delbert Burda of Oxford jct.
Last rites were held at the Mill-Bauer Funeral home in Eagle Lake and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic church with the Rev. A .W. Didner officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery in Nada.
