United States Army World War I Soldier. He served in Company I, 311th Infantry Regiment, 78th Infantry Division, American Expeditionary Force, having been inducted into the Army on September 19, 1917. He arrived in France on May 20, 1918, and served until he died of combat wounds on October 26, 1918.

He was the son of Hannah M. Gaskill and John E. Gaskill, who apparently divorced soon after he was born. He lived with his mother in his grandparents house on 336 Stacy Street, Burlington, New Jersey. His grandparents, Isaac M. and Eliza King, had six children, and Eldridge's mother was the youngest.
