In the 1910 US federal census, Samuel L(27) is single, living alone, a laborer at odd jobs and living in Declo (was Marshfield in 1910), Cassia, Idaho.

On April 14, 1915, Samuel marries the divorcee Emma Orlean/Orlena Elizabeth "Amy" Mansfield. Amy is listed as next of kin on Samuel's WWI draft registration papers. During the 1920 US federal census, Samuel, Amy & Amy's son by her previous marriage, Carmon Jay/James Bean, are living iin Marshfield, Cassia, Idaho; Samuel is a farmer. During the 1930 US federal census, Samuel is divorced, 47 years old, boarding in a private home and is a farm foreman. There is no evidence found thus far that Samuel had children. Samuel passes away in 1936 and is buried in Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley, Idaho.
