Richard Joseph Hawkins, 59, died at 8:35 AM Saturday, Oct. 12, 1991, in Lafayette Home Hospital, where he had been hospitalized for a day. Born May 5, 1932, in Lafayette, he graduated from Jefferson High School in 1951. He married Patricia C. Kennedy on Nov. 7, 1954; she survives. Mr. Hawkins retired in 1990 from Purdue University Power Plant south, where he worked for 28 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Surviving with his wife are three sons, David J. Hawkins of St. Augustine, FL, Danny Lee Hawkins of Lafayette and Michael Alan Hawkins of Jacksonville, FL; a daughter, Delores Renee Hawkins of Lynchburg, VA; five brothers, Thomas Hawkins, Robert Hawkins, Gerald Hawkins, all of Lafayette, Donald Hawkins of Indianapolis, and Raymond Hawkins of Winter Haven, FL; a half-brother, Ronald Smith of Odell; and eight grandchildren. Service Oct. 15, Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, Pastor James Chase officiating; internment Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
