Hazleton Sentinel; Tuesday, November 4, 1884:
On Sunday morning Peter Holman died at his residence in Stockton after an illness of four weeks brought on by a heavy cold. At the time of his death Mr. Holman was aged 77 years, having been born in England in 1807. In 1865 he came to this country and made his first settlement in Beaver Meadow, where he secured work in the mines of W. T. Carter & Co. He remained there two years and then moved to Stockton where he has lived almost continuously ever since, being employed at his occupation in the mines.

He leaves of his immediate family three sons and three daughters to whom his death is a severe blow.

Mr. Holman during his long residence in Stockton gained a host of warm personal friends and he was universally looked up to and respected. For more than half a century he was a faithful and active member of the Methodist church giving liberally of his time and means to advance its interests and welfare. He was also a member of Division No. 65, Sons of Temperance. His whole life was characterized by good works and a kindly Christian charity and he passed away leaving behind him the blessed memory of a life well spent.

The funeral will take place to-morrow (Wednesday) afternoon from his late residence at half-past one o'clock. The remains will be brought to this place and interred in Vine street cemetery.
