Robert J. Gallus
1916-2006
MAYSVILLE, Mo. - Robert Jerome Gallus, 89, Maysville, died Friday, April 28, 2006 at the Heartland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph.
He was born May 22, 1916 to Anthony Louis and Anastasia (Hlavac) Gallus near Maysville and had been a life long resident of DeKalb County where he graduated from Maysville High School and engaged in farming.
During World War II he served in the United States Army from October 1942 until February 1946.
Mr. Gallus was a life-long member of the Saint Aloysius Catholic Church in Maysville.
On Feb. 2, 1957, he married Ann Elizabeth Gomeck at St. Joseph and she survives of the home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, John, Frank, Elmer, Basil, and Justice who was reported missing in action in Korea in 1951; five sisters, Irene Gillette, Pauline Rathbun, Adelia Moody, Sister Anastasia (Helen) Gallus, and an infant sister, Margaret.
In addition to his wife, Ann, he is survived by one son, Robert J. Gallus Jr. and wife Molly of Maysville; two daughters, Mary Anne and husband Roger Day of Maysville, Rita and husband Aaron Zimmerman of Kansas City, Mo.; one brother, Hubert of Maysville; and one granddaughter, Joann Gallus.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Saint Aloysius Catholic Church in Maysville with Father Paul Turner officiating on Monday, May 1, 2006 at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, St. Joseph with full Military Honors provided by the Missouri National Guard.
A rosary will be held on Sunday, April 30, 2006 at 6 p.m. at the Bram Funeral Home, Maysville with a family visitation following the rosary at 6:30 to 8 p.m.
