Esther L. Brooks Berne - 1906-2002
Esther L. Brooks, 95, of Berne, a homemaker and seamstress, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at Adams County Hospital.
The Adams County native had worked for Winner House from 1935 to 1938 and for Berco from 1956 to 1966. She was a member of West Missionary Church. Surviving are daughters Mary Jane Smith of Geneva, Wanda Brown of Decatur and Judie Jackson of Fort Wayne; a son, R. Kinsey of Berne; a sister, Nellie Sprunger of Berne; a brother, Ben Jones of Berne; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wheeler, a son, David, and two brothers. Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at West Missionary Church, Berne, with calling one hour before services. Calling is also from 4 to 8 p.m. today and also from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home, Berne. Burial will be at Springhill Cemetery, Berne. Memorials are to Swiss Village.
