A veteran in the Army Air Corps, he received his pilot training while in the Air Corps and served in the rank of private. He was an automated equipment operator, serving from 1944 to 1945.
Mr. Alexander was a supervisor of the analytical lab at Eli Lilly Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of Elks Lodge 483, AMA Radio Control Flying Club, Family Motor Coach Association, and the Vagabond and Tippy camping clubs. He was a private pilot and enjoyed flying radio controlled airplanes an traveling.
Surviving with his wife are a son, Greg Alexander (wife Kathy) of Woodstock, GA; two daughters, Susan (Mrs. J.T.) Coopman of Needham and Nita A. (Mrs. Ronald) Holcombe of Roswell, GA; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a sister, M. Helen Fennell.
