WINAMAC - Betty June Haley Hippensteel, 72, died unexpectedly at 6:13 PM Tuesday, May 23, 1995, in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. The daughter of the late Edward Haley and Minnie Mills Haley, she was born April 6, 1923, in Lafayette, and graduated with honors from Jefferson High School. Her marriage was to Wilbur H. Hippensteel on May 21, 1943, in Park Ridge, IL; he died Nov. 27, 1985.

Mrs. Hippensteel came to Winamac from Lafayette 36 years ago. She was a former court reporter for Pulaski County Circuit Court, and formerly co-owned Gambles Hardware Store in Winamac. She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church of Winamac and the ladies morning coffee/card group. She was a former member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lafayette, and Delta Sigma Tau sorority in Winamac.

Surviving are a daughter, Jennifer Zahrt of Winamac; two sons, Barry Hippensteel of San Diego, CA, and Dr. Gerry Hippensteel of Vincennes; a brother, Roger Haley of Lafayette; and six grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister and two brothers. Service today at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Winamac, the Rev. Gregory J. Powers officiating; internment McKinley Memorial Gardens, Winamac.
