LAWSON, James R Sr. age 81. Lifelong resident of Old Hickory and a member of Old Hickory Church of Christ, where he served as an elder and treasurer for 23 years. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Theresa "Tess" Lawson; parents, Shade and Lydia Lawson; sister, Mildred Mangrum ; brother, W.D. (Shorty) Lawson; foster son, Scott Nolan. Survived by children, Joyce (Mike) Gentry, Carol (Mike) Gregory, Deborah Lawson and Jim (Theresa) Lawson Jr.; grandchildren, Chris Gregory, Jennifer Parker, Christy (Pat) Gambrell , Daniel (Sara) Gregory, Amanda (Michael) Hogan, Megan Lawson and Joseph Shade Lawson; great-grandchildren, Caleb Gregory and Michael (MJ) Hogan; 2 sisters, Dee (Glenn) Martin and Bitsy (Jim) Oliver; several special nieces and nephews. Jim was a graduate of DuPont High School, a retiree of DuPont and Old Hickory Credit Union, a veteran of the United States Air Force and an avid Vanderbilt football fan. A Funeral service will be conducted at 2pm Friday, May 2, 2014 at the Old Hickory Church of Christ with Bro. Don Loftis and Bro. Scott Ballard , and Jim Lawson Jr. officiating. A full Military Honors burial will follow in the Hermitage Memorial Gardens with grandsons and nephews .serving as pallbearers and the Elders and Deacons of Old Hickory Church of Christ with Dr. W. Clark Ray, Dr. Andrew Sagar and Dr. Drew Pickett serving as honorary pallbearers
