SPRING GROVE - Marie C. (Glatfelter) Grimes, 97, passed away on April 28, 2014, at Brunswick at Longstown in York. She was the loving wife of the late Robert Grimes, who passed away on January 5, 1989.
Marie was born in Spring Grove on July 10, 1916, and was the daughter of the late Harry and Sadie(Bortner) Glatfelter.
She graduated from Class of 1933. She worked at P.H. Glatfelter, and Spring Grove Hosiery. She was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Spring Grove, Windy Hill Senior Center, Senior Citizens Group of Spring Grove and the Spring Grove Historical and Preservation Society.
She is survived by her nephews, Donald Hershberger and his wife Judith, and Larry F. Hershberger and his wife Margaret. Also survived by many nieces and nephews from her husband Robert's family and great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister, Edith Hershberger.
A funeral service in celebration of her life will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, with the Rt. Rev. Barry E. Yingling, CSSS, Chaplain at the Brunswick at Longstown officiating. She will be laid to rest following the service next to her husband at Spring Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
