SERVICES: 2:00 pm Friday, May 2, 2014 at Calvary Christian Fellowship, Shamrock with Rev. Joe G. Jernigan and Russell Shaw, officiating.

INTERMENT: Shamrock Cemetery in Shamrock.

BIOGRAPHY: Gary Gandy of Shamrock died Monday, April 28th, 2014 in Dallas, TX with his family by his side.

He was born December 15, 1934 to Raymond and Doris Gandy in Dallas, TX; he was raised in Olney, where he graduated from Olney High School. Gary was a veteran of the US Army and followed his father's footsteps into the oil and gas industry. He married Ida Marie Corfield in Farmington, NM on November 23, 1963 and they spent over 53 years together. Gary went on to receive a Petroleum Engineering Degree in 1970 while raising his three children. He worked for El Paso Natural Gas and Exploration Co. for over 30 years where he later became manager over operations. He was also involved in off shore drilling operations, wrote articles for petroleum publications and owned and operated his own companies.

When he was a young man, he was involved with the family in horse racing, Rodeo Cowboys Association and a founding member of The Turtle Rodeo Association all of which later became the PRCA. He was passionate about hunting and his Circle G Ranch. He also founded the Shamrock Championship Dove Hunt in 1973 which is currently run by his family. The proceeds from this hunt are donated to the local youth charities in Wheeler County. He served as chairman for the St. Patrick's Day celebration and had also served on the City Council.

Gary was proceeded in death by his parents Pinkney Raymond and Doris Jean Gandy and many uncles and aunts.

SURVIVORS: Wife –Ida Gandy – Shamrock; 1 Daughter – GayLynn Otts & husband Kenny – Pakan Community; 2 Sons - Brent Gandy & wife Jennifer – Amarillo; Troy Gandy & wife Toni – Crystal River, FL; 3 Brothers - Larry, Jerry & Mickey Gandy; 8 Grandchildren; 2 Great Grandchildren

Beneath his gruff exterior, he truly had a heart of gold; buying meals and helping those in need and giving rides to hitch hikers.

Dad, we will never forget your lessons and will love and miss you forever.
