There will be an open visitation with family present one hour prior to the service.
Raymond Fuehrer was born on Jan. 25, 1933, to Albert and Hulda (Klingman) Fuehrer at Artas, S.D. When he was a young boy, his family moved to a farm north of Leola, S.D. He grew up there, attended school in Leola, and worked on the family farm as a young man.
Raymond married Bernice Hauck on May 18, 1952, at Hosmer, S.D. They lived on the family farm with his parents for several years before purchasing a farm of their own northeast of Leola. In 1979 they moved to Rapid City, where Raymond worked for Underground Homes and later for Insulation Enterprises until retiring in 1996. Raymond and Bernice then traveled together, working at various campgrounds in national forests and state campgrounds. They were currently working at Lake Park Campground in Rapid City.
Raymond was a past member of the Reformed Church. He loved reading, especially westerns. Raymond and Bernice loved traveling together and camping. Raymond would occasionally go fishing and was known to tinker with things in the garage.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Bernice, Rapid City; son, Donnie (Dianne) Fuehrer, Aberdeen; two daughters, Charlotte (Tom deBree) Coates, Denver, Colo., and Donna (Lloyd) Breitag, Leola; grandchildren, Michael Fuehrer, Aberdeen, Bryson Fuehrer, Aberdeen, Matthew (Anne Barkis) Coates, Denver, Colo., Nathan (Erica) Coates, Denver, Hollie (Justin) Steckelberg, Mesa, Ariz., and Rachel (Bill) Mountain, Aberdeen; stepgrandchildren, Nick Gill, Leola, Mitchell Hanes, Aberdeen, Leslie Hanes, Aberdeen; great-grandson, Carson Steckelberg, Mesa, Ariz.; and two sisters, Pauline (Joseph) Fischer, Aberdeen, and Frances (Martin) Ketterling, Bismarck, N.D.
