James Melvin Carroll, 68, died April 24, 2014 in Marietta, Georgia after a long, courageous battle with a serious illness. He was born July 24, 1945 in Atlanta, Georgia, to Marshall and Dorothy Carroll.

During his childhood, his family moved frequently and Jim attended 33 different schools before graduating from Blacksburg High School in Blacksburg, Virginia in 1964.
