Permelia J. King
Permelia J. King, widow of Wm. King was born Dec. 6, 1833 and died Dec. 12, 1923, aged 90 years and 7 days. Her maiden name was Permelia J. Kincaid. She was married to Wm. King, Oct 14, 1852. To this union were born four sons and four daughters. Three sons and two daughters survive her, as follows: Thomas E. of Truro, Noah F. of Nebraska, William A. of Caney, Kansas, Mrs. W. F. Cronk of Vinton and Mrs. Arminda Ogburn of Winterset. She has been a widow for the past 16 years and more, residing in Winterset during that time. Aside from her children and grandchildren and many friends, she leaves one brother, of Griswold and one sister, Mrs. Arminda King of Winterset, with other relatives, to mourn her passing.

In early womanhood she united with the Cumberland Presbyterian church. Almost 50 years ago, with other members of her family, she united with the United Brethren church. In the early days of the civil war, the family moved from Illinois to Madison county. Most of the intervening years have been spent in this county, moving to Winterset in 1905.

Her health has been precarious for many months. The immediate cause of her passing was the result of a fall, from which she was unable to recover.

The funeral was held at the Methodist Episcopal church Saturday morning, Rev. d. J. Shenton officiating.
