WILLIAM KING Obituary

Wm. King was born in Menard county, Illinois, January 6, 1831, and died in Winterset, Iowa,
February 16, 1907, age 76 years, l month and 10 days. On October 14, 1852, he was married to Permelia J. Kincaid to whom was born four sons and four daughters. One son and two daughters preceded him in death leaving three sons, Thos. E., of Truro, Iowa; Noah F., of Pingree, North Dakota; William A., of Winterset, and two daughters, Mrs. Julia A. Cronk, of Des Moines and Mrs. Arminda Ogburn of Truro, who with his wife, three brothers, three sisters, a number of grandchildren, with many other relatives and a host of friends are left to mourn his departure.

In early manhood he embraced the Christian religion and united with the Cumberland Presbyterian church. In 1874 he became a member of the church of the United Brethren in Christ in Dallas county, but for the past nineteen years has been a member of the Providence class some four miles east of the city. As a neighbor he was kind and obliging, making his religion a practical matter.

He came with his family to Iowa during the early days of the civil war and has spent most of the years since in this and adjoining counties. He moved from his farm to this town nearly two years ago, and has since spent the quiet of his old age among us. His late illness was of short duration and the immediate cause of his death was pneumonia attended with acute heart affection.

The funeral services were held at the family resident at 10:30 Tuesday. Rev. Geo. Miller, D.D. Of Carlisle, Iowa presiding elder of Des Moines conference of the church of the United Brethren in Christ, preached the funeral sermon.
