Kinney, Frances VISTA -- Frances Kinney, born February 07, 1923 in Thorp, Wisconsin, died Thursday, April 17, 2014 at her home in Vista, CA. The oldest of 14 children, she is survived by three sisters: Amelia Bayer of Lake Geneva WI, Bernadine Ruskin of Anchorage, Alaska, and Geraldine Teyssier of La Jolla. Two brothers: John Kornesczuk of Eau Claire, WI, and Michael Kornesczuk of Cadott, WI. Frances is also survived by six children: Kathleen Reynal of Half Moon Bay, CA, William Kinney of Lake Arrowhead, CA, Thomas Kinney of Redlands, CA, Margaret Probe of Carlsbad, CA, Patricia Harbison of Eagar, Arizona and Jim Kinney of Honolulu, Hawaii; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren to whom she was known affectionately as "GG." Fran loved school and graduated Valedictorian from Gilman High School in Wisconsin. After her graduation, she went to work in Chicago where she met James, her husband of 57 years. James was from Kauai, HI, serving in the US Air force. During his days in the service, they lived in Morana Airfield, AZ, Los Angeles CA, Hickam Field, HI, and eventually ending up at McChord AFB in Tacoma, WA. When Jim retired in 1960 they moved back to Los Angeles, CA. In 1973, they bought a home in Vista, CA, where they attended St. Francis Church. In 1988, they moved to Vista Village where Fran served as "Sunshine Girl," sending sympathy cards to residents. Frances was a Cub Scout Den Mother, served on her children's PTA's and volunteered for numerous charitable causes, too numerous to list. For 25 years, she taught Christian Doctrine to those with special needs as well as being a Eucharistic Minister taking communion to the homebound. She made at least a hundred baby blankets for birth choice, besides, for all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Fran was a gentle spirit who touched the hearts of all. She was so loved, a true testament to a life well lived. Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Thursday, April 24 from 5 to 8 PM at Allen Brothers Mortuary, 1315 So.
