Bill Landon Cole was born Sunday, October 18, 1936 in Protem, MO to Claude and Flossie (Hampton) Cole. Bill attended school in Protem and attended high school in Gainesville. He worked in construction on Table Rock Dam and later moved to St. Louis. In 1960 he was employed by the railroad and moved to Kansas City. Bill was an inspector for the railroad examining cars for height and width to make sure they would clear tunnels and underpasses. Bill was transferred to Des Moines in 1985 where he met Mary Neideigh. They were married on March 8, 1986 in Minneapolis, MN. They continued living in Des Moines until he retired in 1995 and moved to Forsyth.
Bill was an extraordinary man. His deep voice and stern character did not reflect his great sense of humor and love of practical jokes. He was a hardworker, creative and very meticulous. Bill was gifted in creating articles from wood and steel. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also very loving, caring and deeply devoted to his wife and family.
He was a member of the Salem General Baptist Church of Theodosia and Sardis General Baptist Church of Forsyth. Bill was a member of the Elks Lodge, Eagles Lodge of Des Moines, the Welders Union for the railroad and an associate member of the V.F.W.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of Taneyville; a son, Myron Tidball and wife, Tamra of Pleasant Hill, IA; two daughters Jennifer Cole and Jill Ortner of Kansas City, KS; a sister, Nina Stehle and husband, Arthur of Theodosia; two grandchildren Trista Lynn Tidball and Corey Ortner; niece, Betty Tabor of Theodosia, and two nephews, Bob and Don Herd.
He is preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Alma Rhodes, Vada Herd and Alma Pelham.
