On the morning of March 11, 2014, Evelyn Mae Koeller passed away after a short fight with cancer.
Her close family was with her during her rapid decline. Evelyn was one of 11 children born to Richard Lewis and Pearl (Jones) Lewis in Coldridge, Neb. She was born Nov. 4, 1921 and grew up on a farm in Nebraska.
Evelyn married and had three children: Jerry, Bob and Carol with her fist husband before marrying Hubert (Herb) Koeller. After adding Paul and Ronald to the family, they left for California in 1956, with five kids and a little help from some adventurous family members.
Work in the oil and gas construction projects led them to settle in Torrance, Calif. Harbor General Hospital was expanded in 1962, and Evelyn became employed there as an attendant or nursing aid. She made many friends there and worked at the hospital until she retired. Evelyn and Hubert then moved to Beaumont, where they lived until 1994. Since that time, Evelyn had resided in Cypress, Calif.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her son Jerry Sederstrom and granddaughter Katie Koeller. She is survived by her sons, Robert Sederstrom of Beaumont, Ronald Koeller of Los Alamitos, Calif. and Paul Koeller of Torrance, Calif.; and her daughter, Carol Sederstrom of Cypress, Calif. She leaves behind many grandchildren, including Kimberly Schott, Matthew, Vincent, Marissa and Ty Koeller. Great-grandchildren include Nicolas and Brandon Schott, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren from the Koeller side of the family that she married into, and loved dearly. Evelyn was greatly loved by all who knew her for her kind spirit and gentle smile. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Weaver Mortuary in Beaumont. Interment followed at Mt. View Cemetery, Beaumont, Calif., where she was laid to rest next to her husband, Hubert G. Koeller.
