He was born on December 15, 1922, in the Town of Mayfield, a son of the late Clayton Canary and Estella M. Miller Canary.
Warren was a lifelong dairy farmer. In 1950, he purchased his farm in Ephratah, which is now owned and managed by his son and grandson. He was an Insurance Agent for the Fulmont Insurance Company, serving on the Board of Directors for over forty years, and as Vice President for three years. He also worked for North Country Insurance of Watertown.
Mr. Canary was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Little Falls Baptist Church. Since his youth, he was a strong supporter of the Sacandaga Bible Conference. He was also a faithful worker with the Gideons, and always carried a Gideon New Testament in his pocket.
Mr. Canary is survived by one son, James (Nancy) Canary of Ephratah; two daughters, Joyce (Alan) Rose of Gansevoort and Janet (David) Henry, of North Dakota; two brothers, Donald Canary and Kenneth Canary; two sisters Shirley Rose and Marilyn Ottendorf; twelve grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren, one great great grandchild due in October and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife Marion R. Quackenbush Canary who he married on March 19, 1949, and she passed on May 12, 2002.
Funeral Services were conducted at 3 pm on Saturday, April 19 at the Little Falls Baptist Church, 555 Albany Street, Little Falls following visitation from 2 pm until 3 pm.
Visitation was also held for family and friends on Friday, April 18 from 5 pm until 8 pm at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc., 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown.
