M. Florence Smetana, 88, Palmyra, died Friday, December 23, 2005, of natural causes at Cedar Haven Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Joseph A. Smetana. Born in Lebanon on July 29, 1917, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Catherine Allwein Bender. She was retired from the former Steffy Shoe Factory. She was a member of St. Benedict the Abbot Church and the Rosary Society. Surviving are daughters, Lorraine M. McKinney and Josephine A. Myers, both of Palmyra; two grandchildren, Lisa M. and Edward J. Swoyer; a brother, James P. Guare of Lebanon; several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday at St. Benedict the Abbot Church, Lebanon. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. [Lebanon Daily News]
