David Olivarez
Passed away peacefully on April 8, 2014. He was born in Ontario, California on July 21, 1921 to Efren and Manuela Olivarez. David, a devout Catholic, attended St. George Parish School and graduated from Chaffey High School in 1941, where he met his beloved, Erma Robles. He joined the United States Marine Corps on May 20, 1942 and served in the Asiatic Pacific until January 1945. David married Erma on April 8, 1945. They settled on 5th Street, raised five daughters, and this is where David remained until his death. A proud World War II veteran, David, retired from the United States Postal Service on May 1, 1973. His 92-year-long-life was filled with love, faith, happiness and tenacity.

His strength was tested in 1971 when David suffered a cerebral brain hemorrhage. His doctors did not believe he would survive, but with the love of his wife and daughters, David outlived all of his doctors and disproved their medical theories. He was a quiet and humble soul, an avid-reader, and a lover of cookies. But what he enjoyed most was to be surrounded by his family.

David is preceded in death by his wife, Erma Olivarez. Their love story concluded on the day he died, when he was called home on what would've been their 69th wedding anniversary. He is survived by his five daughters Rita Cowart (Ed), Rosalie DiBartolo (Jack), Veronica Springer (Alan), Barbara Olivarez and Elizabeth Tapia (Danny), 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. David left behind a rich legacy which will be carried on by all those that he leaves behind.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, April 15 at Todd's Memorial Chapel, 570 N. Garey Avenue in Pomona, beginning at 5:00 pm, followed by a Rosary at 6:30 pm. The funeral will take place on Wednesday, April 16 at St. George Parish, 505 N. Palm Avenue in Ontario at 10:00 am, with a burial immediately following at Bellevue Memorial Park in Ontario.
