Surname orginally spelled MYRES. Son of Joseph Knapp and Phebe N. (Mason) Myers. Married 3 times, but never had any children.
In 1861 Mason Myres enlisted in the Civil War. Private Myers was wounded in action on 01 July 1863 at Gettysburgh, Pennsylvania, by a minnie ball shattering his right leg and amputation was done.
Mason was a member of G.A.R. (Grand Army of the Republic) and was involved in the design and building of the Soldiers Monument, Oswego, NY.
