Thomas Franklin Stewart and Carrie Crabb were married March 8, 1891 at Magnolia, Iowa. He applied for homestead entry on Oct. 16, 1911 for SE33-22-1W4 and on Oct. 16, 1911 for SW33-22-1W4, near Empress, Alberta. Thomas lived here with his wife and 6 children from April, 1912, and received his land patents on April 30, 1915 and Dec. 27, 1916. Thomas had previously been farming at Little Sioux, Iowa.
THOMAS F. STEWART DIES AT EMPRESS
Empress, Alta, Nov. 16--The death occurred at Empress of Thomas F. Stewart, 73, Nov. 9. Mr. Stewart was a native of Magnolia, Iowa, where in 1891 he married Miss Carrie Crabb. In 1912 he came to Canada, taking up a homestead in the Empress district, and for the 10 years prior to his death he resided in the village. To mourn him he leaves his widow and six sons and daughters: Owen, of Rocky Mountain House, Alta.; Mrs. Alton (Florence) of Red Deer, Alta.; Carl of Los Angeles; Mrs. Weston (Bernice) of Sylvan Lake, Alta.; Mrs. R. Best (Gladys) of Ventura, Calif., and Lawrence of Paterson, California. He was buried in the Red Deer cemetery.
