Thelma Brown Cable, 83, of Elon passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at Alamance Regional Medical Center following two years of declining health.
A native of Burke County, she was the wife of the late John N. Cable and the daughter of Thomas and Annie Huskin Helms, both deceased. She was formerly employed with Stadler Country Hams and retired after 19 years of service. She was a member of Shallow Ford Christian Church.
Survivors include five children, Faye Davis of Elon, Nelda "Punkin" Ellis and husband Charles of Gibsonville, Hal Brown and wife Lynn of Cary, Phil Brown and companion Donna Sharpe of Elon, Jimmy Cable of Gibsonville; one brother, John Helms of Drexel; three grandchildren, David Aldridge, Mindi M. Kimrey, Chantelle Turner; three great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by nine siblings, Rose Rhoney, Bertha Woods, Minnie Guthrie, Lucille Helms, Dorothy Wade, Jeff Helms, Jirl Helms, Horace Helms and Wilford Helms.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, September 16, 2007 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Dr. S. Perry. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Shallow Ford Christian Church, 1263 Shallowford Church Rd., Elon, NC 27244 or to Alamance County Meals on Wheels, 508 W. Davis St., Burlington, NC 27215
