Robert D. Stuart, longtime resident of Wagoner, Oklahoma, passed this life on Monday, April 7, 2014, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age 90. He was born to Lora and John Stuart Sr. on September 13, 1923 in Ralston Oklahoma. At a young age, Bob and his family moved to Pawhuska. He graduated from St. Gregory High School in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He attended Oklahoma State University. Bob served in the United States Army as an occupational trooper in Japan. January 1948, Bob began his career at the American Bank in Wagoner. On May 1, 1948, Bob married the love of his life Ida Lee Lemon. Bob served as President, Director and Chairman of the Board of the American Bank. He retired in 2004. He remained Chairman and Director until his death. Bob was a member of the Lions Club, Wagoner Jaycees, and Wagoner Chamber of Commerce. For several years, he helped to coordinate the Wagoner Christmas Parade, one of his proudest accomplishments, was the restoration of the Cobb building which now houses the American Bank. He was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church. Bob enjoyed his outings, fishing trips, and back yard barbecues. Most of all, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was affectionately known by his grandchildren as "Bobby". Bob was preceded in death by his mother, father, infant son, brothers Donald J. Stuart, Charles A. Stuart, John A Stuart Jr., and Alexander J. Stuart. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 11, 2014, at the Wagoner Holy Cross Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Shipman Funeral Home Chapel.
