Clarence C. "Finny" Finafrock, age 96 of Providence Place, Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Waynesboro, PA passed away peacefully after a brief illness at 9:00 A.M. on Wednesday , April 2, 2014 in Providence Place.

Born December 13, 1917 in Chambersburg, PA he was the son of the late Elmer F. and Mary (Knoll) Finafrock.

He and his wife, the late Naomi P. (Stoops) Finafrock were married in Hagerstown, Maryland by Rev. Berry Plummer in May 1940. Mrs. Finafrock passed away on August 22, 2010. He attended the St. John's United Methodist Church on Warm Spring Road Chambersburg.

Mr. Finafrock retired from Landis Tool Company of Waynesboro after 40 years of service. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, golfing and vegetable gardening.

Mr. Finafrock was a charter member of the Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post #6319 of Greencastle and a member of the American Legion Post #15 of Waynesboro. He also was a member of the National A.A.R.P.

He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the destroyer USS Stockton in the South Pacific for 26 months during World War II in which he participated in ten D-Days and earned eight bronze stars. He was aboard the Stockton anchored next to the battleship Missouri when the peace treaty was signed ending the war with Japan.

He is survived by two daughters Cheryl E. Finafrock and Wanda L. Miller, son-in-law Thomas G. Miller, all of Waynesboro and sister Virginia Bartle of Chambersburg. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Erma G. Reeder, Isabelle J. Dice, Reida L. Aldridge and brothers Knoll J. Finafrock, Raymond C. Finafrock and Garnet R. Finafrock.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 7 at 10:00 AM from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Pastor Stephanie Dowding officiating. Burial will be in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 6 – 8 PM.
