Charles E. Heffner, 30, Of Near York Springs Is Claimed By Death

York Springs - Charles Elmer Heffner, 30, husband of Mrs. Mary Dahr Heffner, died yesterday at 2 p.m. at his York Springs RD 1 home.

A farmer, he was a member of Harmony Bethel Church of God, Dillsburg RD 1. Surviving, besides his wife, are: His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Heffner, Dillsburg RD 1; four brothers and sisters, Lawrence Heffner, Shiremanstown; Richard L. Heffner, Wellsville RD 1; Kenneth Heffner, Dillsburg RD 1 and Mrs. Roy M. Williams, York Springs.

His pastor, Rev. Donald Cohick, will officiate at funeral services Monday at 2 p.m. at the Cocklin Funeral home, Dillsburg. Interment will be in Dillsburg cemetery (sic).

C.E. HEFFNER, FARMER, TAKES HIS LIFE AT 30

Charles Elmer Heffner, 30, York Springs R. 1, died Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock on his farm near York Springs.

Dr. C.G. Crist, Adams County coroner, termed the death a suicide.

The coroner said Heffner's lifeless body was found at 5:30 o'clock and that the death had occurred 3 1/2 hours earlier. The York Springs area farmer, according to the coroner, had shot himself through the forehead with a .22 caliber rifle, using a string to pull the trigger. The death, which was instantaneous, occurred in Huntingdon Twp.

Heffner was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Heffner, Dillsburg R. 1, and was a member of the Harmony Bethel Church of God.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, the former Mary Dahr, and four brothers and sisters: Lawrence Heffner, Shiremanstown; Richard L. Heffner, Wellsville R. 1; Kenneth Heffner, Dillsburg R. 1, and Mrs. Roy M. Williams, York Springs.

His pastor, Rev. Donald Cohick, will officiate at funeral services Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Cocklin Funeral Home, Dillsburg. Interment in the Dillsburg Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Cocklin Funeral Home, Dillsburg, on Sunday evening after 7 o'clock.
