CHARLES EDWIN BARKLOW, 405 Elizabeth Avenue, died suddenly Friday night while swimming at Taylor's Landing. He was 60 years of age. He was born and reared in Shippensburg, Pa., the son of James and Helen R. (Fogle) Barklow. He had been living in Hagerstown for the past 35 years, and was employed for a number of years by the Western Maryland Railway in maintenance of way, and was recently employed with the County Road Department.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ethel (Clark) Barklow; a daughter, Mrs. Helen B. Stuart, Palm Springs, Ca.; sons, John R. and Charles A., both of Hagerstown; James H., Palm Springs, Ca.; and Robert E., Frederick; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Helen Layton, Harrisburg, Pa.; Mrs. Rhoda Kriner, Chambersburg, Pa.; Mrs. Lottie Forest and Mrs. Josephine Sadella, both of Hagerstown.

Services were held at the A.K. Coffman Funeral Home; interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
