She was born in Lee County on May 19, 1937 to the late Jessie Clarence Stone and Dorothy Lou Maude Coley Stone.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William Booker Martin Jr.; brother J.C. Stone Jr. and son William Darryl "Dusty" Martin.
Mrs. Martin was a seamstress and also worked alongside her late husband on the farm before their retirement. She was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Mrs. Martin loved flowers and was a trinket collector, ceramics maker and knitter.
She is survived by daughter Debra Martin Millikin and husband Roger of Sanford; daughter-in-law Paula Parson Martin of Siler City; three grandchildren Chandra Millikin McLaughlin and husband Chris of Sanford, James William Martin of Siler City, Brandon Reese Martin and Christopher William McLaughlin; and three special nieces Angela T. Holder of Lillington, Sandra Paschal and Linda Paschal both of Sanford.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethlehem United Baptist Church with Rev. Danny
Berrier officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will follow at Lee Memory Gardens.

This is my niece, daughter of my husband Clifton Ray's sister Maude. We lived out of state most of the time so I believe I only met Shelby a couple of times. Wish we had gotten to know each other better.
