Bernard Lee Burch, 96, of Rockbridge County, went to be with his Lord Monday, March 31, 2014 at his home near Buena Vista. Born June 18, 1917 in Amherst County a son of the late Frank B. Burch and Emma Henson Burch. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby L. Tomlin Burch. Mr. Burch was retired from Reeves Brothers plant in Buena Vista. He was a longtime member of the Stone Church of the Brethren where he served as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher for many years.
Surviving are two daughters, Helen Watts and Hazel Bradley both of Buena Vista, Va.; three sons, Jesse Burch of Aylett, Va., George Burch of Buena Vista, Va., and Herman Burch of Fairfield, Va. Mr. Burch has eleven grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.
Family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at the Stone Church of the Brethren in Buena Vista, Va. A funeral service will be conducted 11a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the Stone Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Russ Barb officiating. Burial will follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund at the Stone Church of the Brethren, 2162 Forest Avenue, Buena Vista, VA 24416.
