MARY ANN STANLEY, age 82, of Kendallville died on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at Parkview Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Stanley was born in Fort Wayne on October 3, 1926 to the late Frederick and Anna (Schmidt) Herber.
She graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1944 and Riley College in Fort Wayne where she earned a secretarial certificate.
She was formerly married to Eldon B. Stanley who survives in LaGrange, Indiana.
Since 2006, at her late age, she was taking classes to obtain her nursing degree from Ivy Tech in Fort Wayne. She was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society in 2008.
Mrs. Stanley was employed as a Certified Nurse Assistant and worked as a private home health care provider for many years in the Fort Wayne area.
Mary Ann enjoyed refinishing and reupholstering furniture, gardening and canning, sewing and embroidering, playing euchre and socializing with her friends.
She was dedicated to furthering her education later in life and her goal was to become a flight nurse.
In Mary Ann's early days, she was an avid violinst.
Survivors include: 5 daughters, 2 sons, 3 sisters, 1 twin brother and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 18, 2009, from 3:00-7:00pm at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Funeral Services will be Friday, June 19, 2009 at 11:00am at Hite Funeral Home.
