Mahlon was born to Hannah Rosenberger Keiper (my great-great- grandmother), about a year or two before she became the third wife of Henry Diehl Moyer (my great-great-grandfather). Through the 1850 census, I discovered that Mahlon's father was probably Mahlon Gery Antrim who was a close neighbor of the Keiper family. He was gone from the area in the 1860 census so I assumed that he died before that census. Years later, I found the younger Mahlon's death certificate which confirmed his father's name and then I also found (through Find-A-Grave) Mahlon Gery Antrim buried in Iowa. All the information fit including his birth date and location. Thus the family mystery was solved. Mahlon, Sr. probably never knew he had a son in Pennsylvania.
