Mary Stakem, 102, of Midland died Friday, March 28, 2014 at the Egle Nursing and Rehab Center, Lonaconing.
Born on September 7, 1911 in Lord, MD she was the daughter of the late William Winner and Emma (Heming) Winner.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas Stakem on Sept 7, 1964; two sons and one daughter, Gerald Stakem, Eugene Stakem and Colleen McGonegal; eight brothers, George, Chalmar, James and David, Aaron, Robert, Arthur and Elmo; five sisters, Alice, Trellis, Edna, Angela and Betty and son-in-law, Donald Amoruso.

Mary was a member of St. Joseph's Cathoic Church, Midland where she was the oldest member of the Sodality. She attended St. Joseph's School. She was also the oldest living resident of Midland. She retired from IBM where she worked as a production worker in October of 1976.

She is survived by three children, Mary Lou Amoruso of Cumberland, John T. Stakem, Jr. and wife Sue of Frostburg and Teresa Ann Stech and husband John R. of Stafford, VA; nineteen grandchildren, Lynn Stakem, Stephanie and Michael Vaughn, Denise and John Peters, Joe and Debbie Stakem, Janet and Bob Martz, Lisa and David Prout, Tony and Liesl Amoruso, Victor and Linda Amoruso, Mark and Shari Amoruso, Dana Mims, Amy and Mike Heiney, Susan Marcum, Maureen McGonegal, Steele and Tanya McGonegal, Shannon and Sam Lewis, Amanda and David Conn, Stacey Stakem, Jack and Michele Stech and Jenny and Nick McKenney; twenty-nine great-grandchildren and one due in late May; one great-great-grandchild and one due later on; one sister, June Stanton of Midland; sisters-in-law, Marion Winner of Midland and Ruth Stakem of Lonaconing; one brother-in-law, Charles Carpenter of Westernport and numerous neices and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, March 30, 2014 from 2PM - 6PM at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Midland.
A wake service will be held at 5:00PM by Deacon Harold Bradley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, March 31, 2014 at 1:00 PM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Midland with Father Ed Hendricks, celebrant.
Interment will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Midland.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Egle Nursing and Rehab Center at 57 Jackson Street, Lonaconing, MD 21539 or St. Joseph's Sodality at 19925 Church Street, Midland, MD 21532.
