Lela May Scarbrough, 91, of Oklahoma and formerly of Clyde died Thursday, March 27, 2014 in Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2014, at Bailey Howard Funeral Home Chapel in Clyde with David Peterson officiating. Burial will be in the Clyde Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home. Visitation will be held directly following the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Scarbrough was born July 12, 1922 in Lone Wolf, Texas to Jess and Edna (Coleman) Jennings.

She graduated from Highland High School in Roscoe and attended Abilene Christian College.

She was the widow of Ernest Scarbrough whom she married March 11, 1942 in Clyde.

She had worked for Sears and Roebuck in El Paso for five years.

They moved back to Clyde in 1972.

She was a member of the Church of Christ and The Women of ACU.

Mrs. Scarbrough is survived by one son, David Scarbrough and wife Nancy of Waco; two daughters, Shirley Harris and husband Nolan of Council Hill, Oklahoma and Jane Phillips and husband Jerry of Topeka, Kansas; one sister, Mrs. Paul Wilma Wilson of Eastland; seven grandsons, four granddaughters, two great grandsons, and five great granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest, one brother Bill Jennings, and two sisters Leta Barton (twin sister of Lela) and Joyce Maxwell.
