Owen T. Johnson, 93, of McGrann, died on Monday, February 15, 2010, in the Armstrong County Health Center, Kittanning, PA.Born November 27, 1916, in Kittanning, he was a son of the late Thomas Owen and Della May (Cravenor) Johnson.Mr. Johnson was a veteran of World War II.He retired from Eljer, where had worked as a caster. He was a member of Manorville United Methodist Church, and was a former member of the VFW, Eagles, Elks, and American Legion, all in Kittanning. Mr. Johnson enjoyed playing cards, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and all NFL games, going to his camp in Tidioute, attending Eljer Retirees meetings, and meeting his neighbors at the McGrann post office in the mornings.He is survived by a stepdaughter, Judith (Clyde) DeLong of Kittanning; a stepson, Charles Young, Jr., of Worhington; two stepgrandchildren, Beth (Don) Helow and Lisa (Gary) Ward; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Brock Beck and Rachael Ward; a sister, Emily Pore; and a brother, Paul Johnson.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy M. (O'Brien) Young Johnson; two brothers, Charles and William Johnson; and two sisters, Mary Ellen Faylor and Betty Ruth Johnson.At Mr. Johnson's request, there will be no viewing. His family is welcoming friends from on Friday, February 19, from 1 p.m., until the time of a memorial service at 3 p.m., in the WELCH FUNERAL HOME, 1032 Fourth Avenue, Ford City. Reverend Craig Peterson will officiate. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Orphans of the Storm, P.O. Box 838, Kittanning, PA 16201.
